Blanche Dora Dansereau, is a Professor of Ornamental Horticulture-Floriculture, Plant Science Department, Horticulture Research Center, Laval University, Quebec, Canada. She is a CSHS member since 1985, ASHS member since 1969 and is an internationally respected scholar who’s academic and scientific career reflects her broad range of interests in the multifaceted features of ornamental horticulture. She was the first to develop production protocols for the use of supplementary lighting of greenhouse roses with Mount Bruno Floral in 1978. She was co-founder of the Greenhouse Crop Specialization Research Group, which later became the Horticulture Research Center at Laval University.  Elected Fellow ASHS in 2005, she has provided distinguished leadership in ASHS activities and helped renew contacts to encourage a better and renewed cooperation with ASHS, CSHS and ISHS members.  She will be the CSHS-ASHS liaison committee chair (starting August 06) and will continue with this endeavor. Currently, named to ASHS strategic planning committee, chair 06 and 07).  During the last 12 years, she has been actively involved with ASHS activities such as Chair Extension Publication Award Selection Committee (04 ASHS Centennial Conference Planning Committee, member 00-02, ASHS Society Liaison and Workshop coordinator for IHC 2002 (CSHS-ASHS-ISHS); Chair ASHS Executive Director Search committee, April-November 99; International Division Vice-President (96-98); Established Outstanding International Horticulturists Award, Chair 98; Outstanding International Horticulturists Award committee, member 98-02; International Division Advisory Council, Chair and member (96-01), ASHS Continuing Education Committee, Chair and member, 97-99; ASHS Membership Representative, Québec, 80-98; Organizing Committee member for ASHS-98, Montréal, Québec; Chair and organized ASHS Northeast Region Annual Meeting, 94 and member since 1990.
